Khao San Road Prices (2026)

Khao San Road is more expensive than the Bangkok average — you're paying a tourist premium of roughly 30-50% on most things. A beer that costs 65 THB at 7-Eleven will be 150 THB at a bar. A massage that's 250 THB on Samsen Road is 350 THB here. That said, it's still cheap by Western standards. A full night out with food, drinks, and entertainment can easily stay under 1,500 THB ($43 USD).

Tips for Saving Money

  • Buy beer from 7-Eleven. There are several convenience stores on or just off the road. A large Chang is 65 THB vs 150 THB at a bar. Drinking on the street is legal and normal.
  • Eat from street carts, not restaurants. Pad thai is 70 THB from a cart vs 150 THB in a sit-down restaurant. The food is often better from the carts.
  • Walk 5 minutes for cheaper massages. Samsen Road and the sois (side streets) around Khao San have massage shops that are 30-40% cheaper.
  • Use Grab, not tuk-tuks. Tuk-tuk drivers quote 200-300 THB for trips that cost 80-100 THB on Grab. Always book through the app.
  • Negotiate tattoo prices. Most shops expect some negotiation on larger pieces. Don't lowball, but asking for 10-15% off is standard.
  • Take the Chao Phraya boat. At 20 THB, it's the best-value transport in Bangkok and drops you at Phra Athit Pier, a 5-minute walk from Khao San.
